Title & Focus (10%)

• 4 – Compelling: Title ≤12 words, specific, mentions EPIC theme; classroom challenge precise in 1 sentence

• 3 – Clear: Title ≤12 words, clear but somewhat broad; classroom challenge lacks specificity

• 2 – Developing: Title vague, >12 words or generic; challenge mentioned but unclear

• 1 – Minimal: No title OR title irrelevant to EPIC theme

Introduction & Rationale (10%)

• 4 – Compelling: 1–2 paragraphs; classroom trigger stated; explains why addressing this matters for learning

• 3 – Clear: 1–2 paragraphs; general classroom issue mentioned, not evidence-supported

• 2 – Developing: Vague rationale; no classroom trigger

• 1 – Minimal: No rationale OR irrelevant context

Intervention Strategy (15%)

• 4 – Compelling: Step-by-step plan; at least 3 elements (method, tool, time); innovation/adaptation described

• 3 – Clear: Plan includes ≥2 elements; feasible but conventional

• 2 – Developing: Plan incomplete; only 1 element included

• 1 – Minimal: No strategy or unclear description

Observation & Evidence (20%)

• 4 – Compelling: ≥2 types of evidence; evidence tied to learning outcomes; patterns noted; consent considered

• 3 – Clear: ≥1 type of evidence; observation limited; partial anonymity

• 2 – Developing: Evidence minimal or anecdotal; no artifacts; inconsistent anonymization

• 1 – Minimal: No evidence presented​.
